On the morning of March 29, the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University entered a new chapter with the formal launch of theDigital Medicine Center (3D Printing Center) of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Hospital leaders Tan Youwen, Xiong Wei, Cao Li, Zeng Yuanlin, Jin Guoqiang, Yu Bentong, Liu Zhili, and Li Fei attended the opening ceremony. Sailner Digital Medical’sprofessional medical 3D printerswere also featured at the printing center.

Tan Youwen noted that the Digital Medicine Center (3D Printing Center) is a digital diagnosis and treatment service platform built to meet clinical needs for major complex cases in thoracic surgery, orthopedics, urology, general surgery, oncology, and related fields. It is also a valuable exploration of the hospital’s efforts to implement the “Healthy China” strategy and the “Healthy Jiangxi” action and to advance high-quality development, with broad application prospects and clear advantages for high-risk, highly difficult procedures.
Tan Youwen emphasized that advancing the Digital Medicine Center meansserving clinical care and raising medical standards, focusing on key links in diagnosis and treatment to enhance patients’ sense of gain, happiness, and security;serving education and teaching and improving talent quality, by building high-quality teaching demonstration and training models that strengthen trainees’ clinical reasoning and skills;and serving clinical research and fostering innovation, by intensifying R&D in digital medicine 3D printing and continually unlocking the innovative potential of new technologies.

Yu Bentong noted that 3D printing is gradually permeating medical applications such as surgical model rehearsal, rehabilitation device manufacturing, and metal or biological implants. Enabling personalized customization and patient-specific precision medicine, it is regarded as a core technology of the so-called “third industrial revolution,” with high processing accuracy, short manufacturing cycles, and diverse materials.
The Digital Medicine 3D Printing Center will focus on applications of digital 3D model reconstruction and 3D printing in clinical surgical planning, surgical guides, medical implants, customized rehabilitation aids, anatomy teaching, and surgical simulation training, delivering personalized product solutions for clinical care, teaching, and research to further advance precision medicine for patients.
